1680 Straight Razor Co Firehose Strop with Orange Lines
- We are now offering Artisan Handmade Firehose only strops from the 1940s-1970s.
The Firehose has been carefully sourced from unlined vintage Firehose and washed 8 times as well as air dried and ironed. They are 2.5 in width and cut to 19-20 inch lengths. Every component of this firehose has been meticulously studied to pick only the best hardware and leather that we feel makes the most aesthetic and finest made firehose strop.
We hand stitch both ends with Fil Au Chinois “Lin Cable” or Linen cable thread in size 532 from the company Sajou which we feel is the best waxed thread thats been made for over 100 years in Versailles, France.
The leather that we chose to use for the bolsters and ends are Chromexcel leather by the Horween Leather Company in Chicago Illinois, USA. We also use Horween Horsehide leather in distressed brown for our ends on our special editions.
Although we use a Barbers leather notch on the end we can also use a USA made D ring if that is your preference.
Our hardware is all USA made and consists of a Nickel Plated Swivel with a Cast O ring (as a opposed to the lesser quality wire made ones) including Chicago Screws to set everything into place.
We also heat stamp our company logo into the top part of the leather bolster.
All these elements give our Firehose strop a classic and simply stunning aesthetic because we focus on all the details of construction of this modular strop.
The Chromexcel trim pieces are all back beveled, rounded and burnished for a detailed and handsome appearance. All these extra details takes time so please know that it usually takes 2-5 days to construct and ship each strop since they are each made to order.
We also offer custom longer lengths but at an additional price.
NOTE: We currently have two colors in firehose. Orange and Purple lined Firehose. The Purple is thicker and more aggressive and the orange lined is thinner material but faster draw for your straight razors edge.
We will have a special edition listing that has a limited vintage brass Japanese swivel with matching hardware as well as a cast O ring for the swivel for an additional $25.
