Legend has it that on one dark day, a town in Texas found itself consumed by an angry mob on the verge of riot. The townspeople, desperate for order, sent a plea to the state government for assistance. Given the size and volatility of the crowd, one might have expected a cavalry to arrive, but instead, to the astonishment of the townsfolk a lone Texas Ranger stepped off the train into town.
Perplexed, the town's mayor approached the well-armed solitary figure. "Why have they sent only ONE of you?" he asked with anxious disbelief evident in his voice.
With the calm confidence that had become the hallmark of the Rangers, the lone lawman replied, "You reported one riot, didn't you?"
